Baltics first architecture competition in Virtual reality and an international Creative idea contest

During the 7th and 8th of octobre 16 best graduate students from all the Baltic states took part in 2 day Architecture competition. Each Architecture university from the region submitted one best bachelors and masters graduate project. This year in cooperation with virtual reality startup Vividly all the student works were also portrayed in virtual reality. Travelling students works exhibition can be seen in Riga Technical university at Kipsalas str. 6, Riga, Latvia untill end of octobre. 

Best project awards:
• Griušytė Gabrielė “Berlin University Residences”, Vilnius Academy of arts, bachelor’s program, Faculty of Kaunas, Department of Architecture, , Tutor: doc. Linas Tuleikis.
• Andra Odumāne, “Reconstruction of Cesis Old Beer Brewery”, Riga Technical University, master‘s program faculty of Architecture and Urban planning, Tutors Sandra Levāne, Austris Mailītis

Runner-up awards:
• Anastassija Malkova, “Lasnamäe's panelhousing architectural and constructional refurbishment”, TTK Univeristy of aplied sciences, Faculty of Architectural and Environmental Technology, bachelor’s program, Department of Applied Architecture, Tutors: Tomomi Hayashi, Elo Kiivet
• Liina – Liis Pihu, “To Demolish or not to Demolish? Analysis and the Potential of Material Reuse of Vacant Buildings in Estonia”. Estonian Academy of Arts, master’s program, Faculty of Architecture and Urban planning, Tutors: Aet Ader ja Katrin Koov.

In cooperation with the young architects club “Atelpa”, creativity platform “Geniator” and architecture firm “SIA Livland group”, students also had an oportunity to work on a real site object located on Hospitalu str. 5a. Developed proposals include future performance centre, cafe, hotel and a multi-generation kindergarden for children and retirees.
