The CENTRAL UNIVERSITY LIBRARY „Lucian Blaga” Cluj Napoca is launching an architectural contest for a new storage building with open shelf access. The competition aims at selecting and awarding the best solutions of architecture for a new building thatshould contain a deposit area with open shelf access, public hosting and technical spaces.
The site is on the SW side of the existing building and has a total area of 1230 mp. Organised by the Architects’ Chamber of Romania, the architectural contest is a single -phased public one, consisting of an independent procedure of awarding the design contract in accordance with the national law on public procurement and Directive 2004/18/CE of the
European Parliament and of the Council of 31 March 2004 on the coordination of procedures for the award of public works contracts, public supply contracts and public service contracts.
ELIGIBILITY
Individual competitors or, in case of teams/companies, at least one member, are required to be members of the Architects’ Chamber of Romania or of a similar organization in the Member States of the European Union, the European Economic Area or the Swiss Confederation.
LANGUAGE
The language of the architectural design competition is solely Romanian, equally for the contest pack and for the entries.
PRIZES
1st prize: 10000 euro
2nd prize: 6000 euro
3rd prize: 4000 euro
The value of the prize will be deducted from the design contract.

The jury is composed of 5 permanent members and 1 supply member.

REGISTRATION
Competitors shall register free of charge, during the period October 11, 2010 – November 25, 2010, by filling in and dispatching to the Secretariat the Application Form in Annex 2 – Regulament of the documentation, or online, on the competition webpage (http://www.oar.org.ro/concursuri.php?st=0) on the OAR website www.oar.org.ro, Section Concursuri (the Romanian version).
COMPETITION PACK
The competition pack shall be available online for download on the competition webpage (http://www.oar.org.ro/concursuri.php?st=0) on the OAR website www.oar.org.ro, Section Concursuri (the Romanian version).
VISIT TO THE SITE
The competition’s promoter organizes a visit to the site on 20th September 2010, 11:00 h. Interested participants will be given a presentation of the site and theme, after which they can ask questions that will be written down and answered in keeping with the provisions of the Terms and Conditions. The site’s visit is on the participants’ own expenses. Registrations shall be made in writing at the Competition’s Secretariat.
PROJECTS’ DELIVERY
The requirements on the content and elaboration of projects can be found in the competition’s theme. The projects’ delivery deadline is 2nd December 2010, 16:00 h., at the promoter’s premises at the address Biblioteca Central Universitară „Lucian Blaga”, Str. Clinicilor nr.2, Cluj- Napoca, judeţul Cluj, cod poştal 400006, camera 88, et. 2 or by post/courier at the same address. On the packaging should be written „PENTRU CONCURSUL DE SOLUŢII B.C.U. CLUJ NAPOCA”. Posted packages shall bear the stamp of the date and hour of their dispatch.
